Family Activities That Don’t Require Much Planning

by Cheryl Meglio 08/18/2019

As a family, it is vital to spend time together as much as possible. Family activities do not only get to strengthen the family bond but also know more about each other as parents and catch up with your kids.In planning a family activity, you do not need to break your back trying to prepare. There are simple family activities that won’t stress you and yet bring the family together. Some of these are:

Cook Together

There is the old saying – the couple that cooks together stays together. Ditch the measuring cup and cookbook to make things pretty interesting. You can have a barbeque with your kids. Do this at least once a month. If you want this to be private without your kids, wait till they are in school.

Also, taking a cooking class together as a couple is a lot of fun.

Redecorate

Pick a room and decorate it together. You could pick any room at home and have a makeover. It could be a room that needs an organization or one that your family uses a lot. This activity is not about being perfect with decorations. However, it is time you spend together doing something you love, something that will benefit the entire family.

Take Up new Hobbies

While couples have different ideas of how to spend leisure time, be sure to find common ground that everyone will enjoy. Your hobby might be video games while your partner loves scrapbooking. You have got to find common ground where you can both enjoy the time together. Birdwatching while going for a walk is a good idea. You both get to do something that catches each other’s attention while enjoying each other’s company.

Play Games Together

It could be a digital game, a virtual reality game or even board games like monopoly. Games are fun and can be an effective way to let go of stress. You laugh, test your competitive spirit and also get to see each other’s way of handling losses.

Watch TV or Movies Together

Yes, TV unites the family, providing a unique way to relax after a long day at work and parenting. Be sure to make your sitting room cozy, free of distractions from notification and calls. Sit near each other so that you can hold hands. Here is an excellent opportunity to snuggle and feel each other while doing something as simple and familiar as watching TV.
